What today is the world's largest retailer began in 1962 as a small storefront in Bentonville, Arkansas. Walmart was the brainchild of Sam Walton, who envisioned a store that leveraged relationships with wholesalers to give customers a discount retailer. Today the company has expanded to 15 countries with a total of close to 10,000 stores, and generates $26 billion in sales.
Walmart has become known as the go-to destination for many Black Friday shoppers, with many of the highest-profile deals coming from the retailer. This year Walmart has gone a step further in its pursuit for holiday shoppers, offering to match any print-advertised price on identical products anytime from the start of November until Christmas.
